The center, says Wally Hedgecock, vice president and directof for the local will provide university students a places to network with faculty and othetr students and work withthe university’as enrollment, financial and academic counselors. “It’ll be a placs for students to go — whethere they’re on campus or online studentsx — who live in the area, and acceses tutoring ... workshops and go and hang out and work ontheidr homework,” Hedgecock says. The new centedr will be between 5,000 and 6,000 squarer feet and will have a researc room with anywhere from 12 to 16 workstationawith computers.
There will also be tutorin rooms, administrative offices, a staffed lobby area and a snack bar. The center will have the capacity to serve betwee 25 and 30 students and will suppor t up to 14 faculty and Hedgecock says the university hopes to open the new centefr sometime in late summer orearl fall. An exact timeline will be determined once the leaswe for the propertyis finalized. The University of Phoenicx has been in the Alamo Citysinces 2004.
