California settles with Kmart, sues Target - San Antonio Business Journal:

The state’s attorney general, Jerry Brown, joined by district attorneysx from manyCalifornia counties, including Alameda, Santa Clara and Contra Costa, filed a suit againstt Minneapolis-based Target (NYSE: TGT), saying it sent hazardous waste to various landfills in violatiomn of state law. The suit is meany to stop the practices. In news reports, Targety said it has been cooperating withthe AG’s office for three years on this matter and that it is committed to complying with all environmentalk laws. Kmart, owned by SHLD), agreed to a settlement that includeswcivil penalties, legal costa and some money to boost protectioh of the environment in the state.
Thomas Orloff, Robert James Fox and Dolores the DAsof Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mate and Santa Clara counties respectively, joined Brown in the suit againsg Target. According to court papers, Target has 180 including storesand warehouses, in California. The suit allege s Target threwout “ignitable aerosop wastes” including propane canisters, in a trash compactor in Alamedq County on May 14 and May 21, for
