DIA’s contract with Parsons is forsevebn years, with two two-year extensions, and for a maximumk total cost of $160 million. The Denvert City Council must approvethe contract. The South Terminao project, located south of the airport’s main Jeppesen is to include aWestin hotel, FasTracks stationn with an open-air plaza and the expansion of levels five and six at the New bridges over Peña Boulevard and the exit road also are part of the DIA officials said they picked Parsons Transportation Group becaused of its expertise, personnel and the employment of Spanish-born Santiago Calatrava as signature architect for the South Terminal Calatrava, a structural engineer and architecgt who’s based in Switzerland, is knowm for designing projects such as the Sundial Bridge in Redding, Calif.
; the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens, and the new Sondica Airport terminal in Bilbao, Spain. “I have no doubt that work here in Denver will enhance and respect the existing Jeppesen while making DIA one of themost attractive, competitiver and envied airports in the world,” Kim Day, Denver manager of aviation, said in a statement. Parsonsa Transportation Group provides construction, engineering and projecf management services to thetransportation industry. The company is a subsidiaryy of theParsons Corp. engineerinf and construction firmof Pasadena, Parsons will work on the DIA terminal projecty from its Denver office.
The terminal team to be headedx by Parsons also is to includrlocal architecture, engineering and planning firms.
